BNN Raid Finds 25 Kilos of Crystal Meth in Karawang
Jakarta. The National Narcotics Agency, or BNN, arrested two men suspected of crystal methamphetamine possession and intent to distribute as a result of a raid at San Diego Hills cemetery in Karawang, West Java.
The arrest occurred after police had conducted an investigation on drug trafficking in Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta.
“The drugs were transported from Tanah Abang to Karawang. A.P. carried the package and gave it to H.U.,” BNN anti-narcotics division chief Sugiyo said on Friday, referring to the initials of the two detained men.
The BNN found 25.22 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine hidden in packets of Chinese tea when they made the arrest. A dealer, identified as M, sent the package and is now a fugitive.
“We are looking into whether this case has anything to do with the Pakistani we arrested yesterday in North Jakarta,” Sugiyo added.
A.P. and H.U. could face the death penalty if proven guilty of violating the 2009 law on narcotics.
