Indonesian, Foreign National Arrested in Meth Bust
Jakarta. Police in the capital arrested an Indonesian citizen as well as a foreign national and seized 2.2 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine in a drug bust in two separate locations.
“There are two suspects, one Indonesian and one foreigner. We also seized 2.2 kilograms of crystal meth stashed inside a biscuit can,” Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Budi Widjanarko said on Wednesday.
The Indonesian, a female identified as A.I.H., was arrested in a bus shelter at Jalan Margonda in Depok on Monday.
Police found 200 grams of crystal meth she hid in a biscuit can inside her bag.
Based on the investigation the police later raided a boarding house in Srengseng, West Jakarta, where the police found another two kilograms of meth.
Police questioned two foreign nationals who lived in the boarding house. They detained a man identified as A.E.C., while the other was released after it was found he was not related to the case.
Budi said the investigation was based on intelligence about a syndicate smuggling crystal meth from Nigeria and controlled by an inmate in a Jakarta prison. Police declined to identify where the alleged ringleader was serving a sentence.
