Pertamina Raises Pertamax Price, Premium Stands Pat
Jakarta. State energy firm Pertamina increased the price of Pertamax, its brand of 92-octane gasoline, by 2.3 percent as of Friday, in line with global fuel prices.
Pertamina now sell Pertamax at Rp 8,800 (68 US cents) a liter from Rp 8,600 a liter previously, said Ahmad Bambang, the company’s marketing director.
“This increase is because the fuel base cost has increased,” he said.
The equivalent grade of gasoline form Shell, Super, has since Tuesday sold at gas stations here for Rp 8,950 per liter, up 2.9 percent from the previous price.
Pertamina has maintained the price of Premium, its 88-octane gasoline, at Rp 7,400 a liter.
Pertamina has adjusted its fuel prices at the start of each month since the government ended the subsidy scheme for Premium at the start of the year.
